I HAVE TOO MANY WEBSITES!!!

It is impossible to focus and give each site the attention that it deserves.  One thing that I have learned quite a bit about over the last year, is that making money online with a website is:

1) It is not “easy”.

2) Does not happen overnight

3) And it takes real WORK.

You have to be completely dedicated to a site, the same way that a business owner is dedicated to a business.  And as a site grows in popularity and success, it only becomes more demanding and time consuming.  At some point, you have to decide which ones you want to grow and which sites you need to prune.

As a result of these lessons that I’ve learned, I have decided to retire this blog.  As much fun as it has been sharing my many online mistakes, I just can’t keep up the pace and trying to juggle this many proverbial balls.  I have also decided to sell some of my sites / domains and try and focus on continuing to develop and grow the websites that I am really passionate about and the ones that are actually making me money.

The other reason I have decided to retire this blog is because, to be honest, I have started making some pretty good money online.   In fact,  within the past 30 days, I have had nearly $3200 deposited in my account as a result of my affiliate sites!  Not too bad for a guy who makes no money online.  I am also consistently starting to make some decent Adsense revenue as well, all with ZERO advertising.

I am sorry for those who are disappointed at this decision and appreciate the comments that I’ve received from people who have enjoyed some of my more humorous posts like:

  • I can custom design a web page using CSS and HTML
  • I know how to capture, edit and create videos
  • I know how to create custom graphics and animations using Photoshop
  • I know how to use the google map API
  • I know how to register and host custom domains
  • I know how to install and configure Wordpress, vbulletin, Joomla, etc
  • I can create custom ebook and software covers
  • I know about Adsense, Adwords, affiliate programs, clickbank, etc.

In short, I have realized that I have all the skills and tools necessary to be a very successful internet marketeer.  So why am I only experiencing light success instead of the GREAT success I am hoping for?

This is the realization that I have come to and I hope it can benefit those who read this.  I am not achieving the results I want to because I lack:

1) Action:  Instead of just learning I need to DO.  As I heard recently from Russell Brunson, I need to “Ready, Fire, Aim!”  Instead of “Ready, Ready, Ready….” Maybe some of you are in the same position I am. You have had a website idea for weeks, months or even YEARS that you have been sitting on and it has never come to fruition. Maybe an eBook you keep talking about writing but never do. JUST DO IT!!

2) Vision:  I have many great website ideas (another post about that someday) that honestly, all could make me money.  Each of the domains (well…not ALL of them) have the potential to make some cash.  The problem is I have never truly had the singular vision of what exactly I want to do.   Do I want a string of successful blogs?  Do I want to run niche mapping directories?  What do I want to do?  In order to be great you have to know where I’m headed.

I’m actually pretty excited about what this means.  It means a new determination to take action and a new commitment to have a vision for my internet marketing.    Like I said, I’m pretty excited about what the future holds.  I hope to change the name of this blog to “I make NO money” to “I USED to make NO money”

It all began with asking my daughter what she wanted for breakfast…

“Life, please,” she says. So I went to the pantry to get her a box of her requested cereal. I also grabbed an new unopened box of my cereal. As I am walking back to the kitchen table, she looks at me and says,

“I said Rice Krispies!”

“No babe, you said Life” I reply.

“I said Rice Krispies”

“No, Life”

We went back and forth for a little while before I started my first sermon of the day. Now while I stood on my soap box, preaching to my four year old, I was simultaneously also trying to open that new box of cereal for myself. I have to break this down. On the left is my sermon notes and the right was my struggle with the cereal box:

“Honey, it is ok if you said the wrong thing. That happens all the time. People make mistakes. Daddy does stuff like this ALL the time. You can ask Mommy, I’ll think I say certain things but actually I said something else. It is no big deal. You have to be able to laugh and yourself and more importantly know when you are wrong. In fact, Daddy just started a new website all about the times I have been wrong. I’ll be more than happy to get you Rice Krispies. Just ask Daddy nicely…

“Daddy, will get me Rice Krispies please”

“I would love to”

“Daddy?”

“Yes, babe”

“I think your cereal box is upside down”

“Why won’t this open easily?” I think to myself as I struggle with the inner plastic container.

I’ll try the other side. Man, why did they make this so hard.

I need some scissors. “Where are those blasted scissors. Oh, ok, kid scissors, that will work.”

Crap, now the cut is too big and I’ll be pouring cereal all over myself in the morning

(I pour it into the bowl).

I now go to shut the cereal box. Wait, no notched flap in the box that means one thing….

“The cereal box is upside down”

Maybe you had to be there, but the irony and timing of me telling my daughter about admitting mistakes and me struggling with this cereal box that was upside down summarizes beautifully what I’m trying to accomplish with this site. Showing you I’ve been wrong and learning from each other’s mistakes.

I hope you enjoy the story and this website, as much I enjoyed the irony.
