Ok, real quick. I just wanted to pass on something I just learned.
If you are starting to get a bunch of funny characters appearing in your self-hosted wordpress blog like  (which was all over my blog). The best way to remove it is to comment out the following lines in your wp-config.php file. You can do it like so:
// define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);
// define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);
Just a FYI. Seemed to work for me.

2Yeah, actually you will be commenting out the code in your config.php file.
Sorry for the delay in getting your comment posted!

3Thanks. This fix works though are there any posts regarding this? It seems that we can’t be the only ones experiencing the A^ character. Either way: thanks again!

10HI,
This is a top tip. I expected some techie type to comment that this can cause problems if the moon aligns with mars on a Tuesday, yadda, yadda.
I still make no money but with a bit more style now.
I’m gonna re tweet this one.
Many Thanks

11DUDE! You just saved me from doing a complete character set conversion on my database, which would doubtless have ended in tears. OK, so you make no money, but you really should have a paypal tip jar on this post. You saved me hours of time.

14I had just moved over to a new server and had to export my database. All those funky chars popped up across nearly 1,000 articles! Your fix was awesome and worked perfectly thanks!
